With the track and field action heating up, adidas athletes are beginning to make their presence known with strong performances and personalized performance footwear.
Hestrie Cloete, the current World Champion in the high jump, will go for gold wearing the adiStar High Jump, a revolutionary high jump spike with an asymmetrical design to secure the ankle area during take-off and to ensure better energy transfer. Full-length spike plate with six replaceable spikes in the forefoot and four in the heel secure the foot and ensure a safe take-off. HESTRIE CLOETE is printed on the lateral side of the heel and the South African Flag is embroidered on the back of the shoe.
Allyson Felix, one of the favorites in the women’s 200m, is the youngest athlete to have their own personalized shoe. The adiStar Demolisher features grip elements in the toe area that allow the 18-year-old Allyson to explode out of the blocks. The outsole features a Full length Pebax spike plate with six replaceable screw-in spikes. The USA Flag is embroidered on the back of the shoe and Allyson is embroidered on the lateral side of the shoe.
The USA 4 x 100m relay team enters the competition as heavy favorites. Team members Maurice Greene, owner of two Olympic Gold Medals and a Bronze Medal, John Capel, current 200m World Champion and Darvis Patton, Silver Medalist at the 2003 World Championships in the 200m all have their own personalized running spikes, the adiStar DeMOlisher II. Maurice’s DeMOlisher II is the most colorful of adidas’ personalized shoes, with a flow of stripes and
stars covering the upper and MO printed on the forefoot area. J. CAPEL is embroidered on the lateral side of Capel’s running spike. DOC is embroidered on the lateral side of Patton’s running shoe. The adiStar DeMOlisher II is designed to be lightweight yet stiff enough to stand up to the incredible forces generated by world-class sprinters. It features an ultra-thin spike plate with raised ribs that is light, yet supportive enough to keep the sprinter on his toes throughout the footstrike, increasing speed, power and efficiency. A geometrically aligned spike pattern ensures all spikes contact with the track at the same time, even while running on the curve.
