Style Yourself Fit! Introducing the new adidas Women’s Spring/Summer 09 collection

Sydney, April 2009

Style Yourself Fit! Introducing the new adidas Women’s Spring/Summer 09 collection

The vibrant new adidas Women’s collection enters the spring/summer 09 season continuing to create inspiring and stylish sport silhouettes by combining leading adidas technologies and design innovations. The philosophy of the new collection captures the spirit and heartbeat of the ‘Me, Myself’ marketing campaign which is about shifting the emphasis and importance very clearly and decisively onto the woman herself.  In spring/summer 09, adidas Women ambassador and celebrity trainer Michelle Bridges will continue her role as the face of the Me, Myself campaign in Australia.

“The new adidas philosophy of Me, Myself is something that I am very proud to be involved with, as it reveals the woman behind the athlete. It celebrates a woman’s individuality, motivation and confidence, which is very inspiring” says Michelle Bridges, adidas women ambassador.

The spring/summer 09 collection is lively and energetic; featuring innovatively constructed apparel and footwear pieces, vibrant colour pops, dynamic prints and striking graphics using the latest technical innovations across running, gym, workout and yoga with unique technologies specifically developed for women.

This season’s Clima 365 range, as worn by Michelle Bridges on The Biggest Loser, is an innovative gym collection offering the perfect outfit in any conditions. The collection is the most personalised functional training gear available with female specific technology that keeps you cooler and drier for longer, no matter how hard you train. Fabric incorporates adidas ClimaProof®, ClimaCool® and ClimaLite® technologies to keep you cool by conducting heat and sweat away from the body through a combination of lightweight heat and moisture-dissipating materials, ventilation channels and three-dimensional design.

"I love wearing the new adidas Clima 365 collection because, as a professional trainer, it is important that the apparel and footwear I choose to wear supports me during my workouts.  The great thing about the adidas range is that I don't have to compromise on style, performance or comfort" says Michelle Bridges.

The adilibria range is a stylish and elegant workout line featuring matching footwear, accessories and apparel across Training and Tennis. Worn by French Open 2008 Champion Ana Ivanovic, the fitness fashion collection features soft and billowing shapes and fluid silhouettes made with top-end adidas technologies ensuring that there is no compromise on style and great looks. Highlights include ClimaCool® and ClimaLite® technologies which ensure that she stays cooler and drier for longer by improved moisture management during high intensity workouts.

Women’s-specific technology has been taken to the next level in the adidas Running range.  Every element of the footwear has been specifically customised with women’s biomechanics and running needs in mind.  Whereas most running shoes simply tailor the fit, the technology in adidas Running footwear has been designed, adapted and positioned to provide the ultimate comfort and support for female runners.

In spring/summer 09, the women’s compression range, TECHFIT™, has grown to offer a multi-sport range accross Yoga, Gym and Running.  The versatile TECHFIT™ PowerWeb Tank, Tee and Tights contain spring-like TPU bands which store and release energy with every movement.  High compression fabrics improve joint alignment and oxygen circulation and reduce muscle oscillation, which combine to reduce recovery time and the risk of injury.

Supporting the spring/summer 09 performance collection is an appealing cover-ups package updated every month, with accessories to complement the range.  Highlights in the cover-ups range include the script satin tank with gathered back detailing, retro linear shorts, and dance-inspired crop pants.

Alongside this season’s latest collections, adidas Women’s offers an innovative ‘Style Yourself’ tool via the adidas women’s website (www.adidas.com/women) which allows users to create and personalize their own colour palette so they can mix and match outfits whilst browsing through the key styles and products featured in the collection.

The spring/summer 09 collection will launch at retail in June 2009 at adidas Sport Performance stores and selected sports retailers around the world.

adidas Better Place
The adidas Women’s collection is part of the adidas Better Place Program. To be included within the Better Place Program, the materials must come from a sustainable source, be produced without dangerous chemicals, and be manufactured under the highest workplace standards with waste and energy management systems in place.

adidas is constantly reviewing this list as new information becomes available on where and how these environmentally sensitive materials are produced. Below are listed some examples from the short list of materials we currently allow, and why we believe these materials are preferable:

Recycling
At adidas, we source various recycled materials such as inlay soles, textiles, finishings, and rubber. Recycling is the reprocessing of old materials into new products, which prevents the waste of useful materials, reduces the consumption of fresh raw materials, and lowers the total amount of energy needed to extract and process virgin materials into new products.

Recycled Polyester
Recycled polyester turns a waste product into a useful cloth. Made from plastic bottles and post-industrial waste, this cloth comes from chopped up and melted plastic spun into fibre, using waste that would otherwise have been burned or buried in a landfill.

Note: adidas offers products out of two different divisions: Sport Performance (leading technologies), Sport Style (Fashion Group and Originals). The adidas Women’s range is part of the adidas Sport Performance division.
