Today Gerd Müller officially presented the new adidas Golden boot trophy for the FIFA World CUP 2006™. The adidas Golden boot is the official FIFA trophy awarded to the Top Scorer of the FIFA World Cup™ tournament.
Even though Gerd Müller became World Champion in 1974 with Germany, he experienced his personal best tournament at the 1970 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico. During that tournament he formed a formidable striking partnership with Uwe Seeler and won the adidas Golden Boot after scoring 10 goals!
On July 9, immediately following the Final of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, adidas and FIFA will formally announce the winners of the adidas Golden, Silver and Bronze boot for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
On July 6 FIFA President Blatter, the president of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Germany Organizing Committee Franz Beckenbauer, and President and CEO of the adidas Group Herbert Hainer will be announcing the 10 players nominated for the adidas Golden Ball, the official trophy for the most valuable player of the tournament.
