adidas and the National Basketball Association today unveil the future of high-end basketball performance apparel as adidas TECHFIT becomes the official compression undergarment of the NBA. adidas will now provide all 30 NBA teams with adidas TECHFIT Padded and PowerWeb compression base layer worn underneath the uniform for optimal on-court performance.
adidas TECHFIT is a customizable system to address every players’ individual needs regardless of the game situation. The 2009 NBA All-Stars will preview the fully integrated uniform system at Sunday’s NBA All-Star game televised live on TNT at 8 p.m. EST.
adidas TECHFIT PowerWeb combines compression fabrics and a web of strategically placed Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) powerbands to boost power to key muscle groups for more efficient movement increasing acceleration, improving endurance and reducing fatigue. adidas TECHFIT Padded features closed cell foam padding to protect athletes with maximum flexibility, using high-impact resistance to help players battle in the paint and drive the lane.

On any given night, a player can choose whether he wants to wear Padded to give him more protection in the paint or PowerWeb to give him up to an extra four percent in his vertical leap. With a fully modular compression line athletes can now personalize their uniform to fit their varying playing styles and performance needs.”
The 2009 NBA All-Star uniform was designed specifically as a 2-part system comprising the outer jersey and short that work hand-in-hand with the TECHFIT base layer, allowing the game’s greatest players to preview the complete uniform system during basketball’s pinnacle event.

adidas TECHFIT has been tested on the ultimate stage most notably by 2009 NBA All-Star Dwight Howard. TECHFIT PowerWeb is proven to increase speed by 1.1 percent, improve vertical leap by 4 percent, increase power output by 5.3 percent and increase overall endurance levels. TECHFIT Padded has a 30 percent higher impact resistance than the competition and is 27 percent more flexible.
