Introducing Wintersports, successful collaboration extended to 2010
adidas and Stella McCartney have presented their fourth sport performance design collection for women in Aspen/Colorado. Introducing Wintersports as a new category in fall/winter 06, the enormously successful collaboration will now be extended to 2010.
Stella McCartney about her inspiration to create a Wintersports collection with adidas: “I was so excited to work on Wintersports as a new category because I can never find the pieces I truly crave out there. Where are the days of ultra-sexy pieces on the slope?” And describing the range: “Colors and high-end technologies are key, sleek is the word and attitude a must-have!”
The first adidas by Stella McCartney Wintersports collection introduces luxurious, sleek and sophisticated styles that retain this line’s characteristic attention to detail and re-define the traditional sport silhouettes. The feminine, tailored shapes are inspired by Stella’s ready-to-wear signature, fused with technical fabrics that guarantee protection and comfort without compromising style. Highlight pieces include an all-in-one Performance Suit, padded jackets and pants as well as unique Après Ski pieces. One of the most innovative footwear pieces is the Tahses: its amazing two-in-one concept combines a highly insulated boot with a cozy sock-type inner boot and transfers the concept of modern luxury into a winterized outdoor as well as indoor environment.
Alongside this season’s latest introduction Wintersports, the range continues to offer the categories Run, Gym, Tennis and Swim including pack-away pieces in apparel and footwear that add a second dimension to this line’s sophisticated simplicity. Many of the pieces feature a husky that runs throughout the range as a graphical element or accessory piece.
The color palette for fall/winter 06 presents muted, toned-down colors and harmonious shading of simplistic color hues like dark bone and cocoon shades, next to beautiful winter darks such as dark chocolate and deep purple and hints of vibrant colors in turquoise, light red and silver metallic.
The unique range fuses real performance product with style and offers a variety of high-end technologies: ClimaStorm® and ClimaWarm® for example are prepared to protect you in any kind of weather; dri release combines the hand feel of soft cotton with technical fabrics that keep you dry and comfortable; seamless pieces guarantee ultimate comfort and ForMotion™ technology supports muscle strength during athletic moves. In fall/winter 06, adidas by Stella McCartney also introduces the second generation of the Microride running shoe, featuring the lightest a³ heel-to-toe cushioning system for women.
The fall/winter 06 collection will hit retail in 450 stores in August 06, including high-end department stores, adidas Sport Performance stores and Stella McCartney stores around the world. Price points range from 20 Euros (Accessories) to 650 Euros (Apparel).
