Queen of hiphop ready to conquer Asia

Today, North American hip hop queen Missy Elliott discovers Seoul. This strong and original female musician honours South-Korea with a three-day visit to speak about her adidas Originals Respect M.E. collection that provides a voice and message to the market that is unique and different. Respect M.E. is a complete line of sport inspired footwear, apparel and accessories that blend adidas’ street history and sporting styles with Missy Elliott’s personality, flare and original style. The message will appeal to Missy Elliott’s core fan-base and the larger urban women’s market. The FW06 collection is available in store now and her Best Of album “Respect M.E.” launched earlier this week.

 

Missy’s love for adidas is rooted in her passion for old school hip hop, the era that first placed adidas at the forefront of urban athletic and street style.  Missy Elliott and adidas share the same values of authenticity, originality and innovation. Missy has worn adidas Originals almost exclusively among athletic brands throughout her career, most prominently in videos, album packages and awards show appearances. Friendship has grown over the years into mutual respect, the core of the Respect M.E. (M.E. Missy Elliott) concept.

 

Missy Elliott considers Korea an important, influential and authentic country and therefore selected Seoul to personally stress the value and meanin g of her Respect M.E. line, which offers today’s young women a platform for positivity, empowerment, style, skills, friendship and above all, respect.


The very successful Respect M.E. collection, launched in 2004, offers day-and-night outfits for the young urban female consumer. The collection is divided in two main segmentations representing various sides of Missy’s personality, Bass Line and Rhythm.

 

Both her personal style and her music are represented by a timeless sophistication; which is represented by the Respect M.E. collection.

 

Fall/Winter 2006, in stores now

The Bass Line theme for the FW06 season is called Collegiate Classics. The collection breathes a real and authentic high school team spirit. From participating actively in competition or training to cheering and hanging out with the crew, many elements are inspired by preppy looks, so typical for high school sports and events. The Collegiate Classics theme is a combination of classic sport silhouettes and colors, high quality and attractive price points.

 

The Rhythm theme for the FW06 season is called Lady Equestrian.  To strengthen the appeal towards the more fashion forward consumer, Missy came up with the Lady Equestrian concept herself as it is currently one of the most influential trends in the urban market. Heavily ornamented looks merge with equestrian country sport styles from the adidas archives. Earth tone colors and natural high quality fabrications characterize Lady Equestrian, available at medium level price points.

 

The Respect M.E. collection is part of the adidas Sport Heritage Division that brings authentic and unique adidas Originals products to the international lifestyle market. Various themes and collections represent the true fusion of sport authenticity and global street style.
