New design for adidas Olympic range

Herzogenaurach, February 2006

adidas equipped athletes will compete in the Turin 2006 Olympic Games with a completely newly designed range. Instead of having the classical Three Stripes on their arms and legs – this design was ruled out by the IOC for Turin – the number ”3” will be used as a new design element. By using a row of ”3s” in a playful and creative way, the originator of this collection will nevertheless be clearly adidas. The design, that for the time being will only be used in Turin, has been approved by the International Olympic Committee, and corresponds with the IOC ruling.

In all other important sports the Three Stripes will continue to be visible every day in top-level sport in future, as the world-famous and well-liked symbol that stands for performance in sport. The big sports federations, including FIFA, UEFA (football), IAAF (track and field), WTA, ATP (tennis) and IHF (handball), continue to accept the Three Stripes explicitly in their regulation. And of course our consumers will also continue to find an extensive offering of adidas products with the Three Stripes in retail stores.
